Chiara Dynys – Enlightening Grimoires – Museo Fortuny Venezia

Chiara Dynys, in line with her personal artistic research on the themes of knowledge and individual awareness through some books that “enlighten” our existential journey, presents Enlightening Grimoires (2021-22), a great site-specific installation donated by the artist to Fondazione Musei Civici of Venice | MUVE and that from May 21st, 2023 is permanently exhibited at Museo Fortuny in Venice. Specially designed for Museum’s space and a clearly evolution of the artwork Enlightening Books (on view until August 27th, 2023 at Mart, Museo di arte moderna e contemporanea of Trento and Rovereto (TN), Enlightening Grimoires is composed by 250 sandblasted glass books, hand painted with the four colors that the artist associated to the magical one that Mariano and Henriette Fortuny used to create their projects and in their textiles. Among them, the colors gold, white, black and purple, speckled with oxides, color the glass books installed on long steel shelves corten with a back lighting led lights. Only some of these books are illuminated because only of them illuminates our existential journey.
