Chiara Gambirasio. Chasing Rainbows

10.09.2026 – 10.10.2026

From September 10th to October 10th, 2026, BUILDING TERZO PIANO presents Chasing Rainbows, a solo exhibition by Chiara Gambirasio (Bergamo, 1996), curated by Giulia Bortoluzzi.
Through a selection of new paintings, drawings, and sculptures, the artist transforms the gallery’s third floor into an ideal magnetic field: a microcosm of tensions in which light generates energy and movement.

The main body of works on view, which activate the exhibition space, results from new productions created by Gambirasio following her artist residency in Iceland (Herhúsið), held from February 26th to April 1st, 2026. Conceived as a “rainbow hunt” and a pursuit of ephemeral atmospheric phenomena capable of inspiring wonder through their beauty and unpredictability, the artist’s expedition gradually evolved into a more intimate path of research. It moved from the investigation of external forms of interiorization, such as iridescence, to practices of introspection, ultimately leading to the exploration of an intimate and personal space of light.
The experience of living surrounded by the whiteness of snow reversed the chase of the ephemeral, inviting the artist to dwell within her own emotional depth. The time that would have normally been devoted to waiting was transformed into a generative time of listening and observation—an active time of possibility and spontaneity.
Within this context, the series Meteopathetic Paintings (2026) takes shape, in which the new chromatic range becomes more intense than the characteristic delicacy with which a rainbow usually appears. Against the backdrop of the snow-covered landscape, an almost volcanic energy emerges with striking clarity, creating a tension with the softer tonalities of earlier works such as Nimbo (2023) and Rovesci (2023).

BUILDING TERZO PIANO hosts an ongoing journey of research unfolding between two complementary polarities: from the clearing of a larger, brighter space—where supreme lightness manifests itself like the breath of a rainbow—to a more intimate, enclosed space, inviting viewers to immerse themselves and experience intimacy as a vibrant refraction of darkness.
