Chiara Dynys. Once Again – Palazzo Citterio, Milano

08.05.2025 – 07.09.2025

From May 8th to September 7th, 2025, Palazzo Citterio in Milan, a space of the Grande Brera reopened to the public last December 7, will host Once Again, the new monographic project by Chiara Dynys, curated by Anna Bernardini.
The site-specific installation conceived by Chiara Dynys for the so-called Stirling underground room is in coherent continuity with a research that for more than 30 years the artist has dedicated to a dialogue with space, real and imaginary, and will welcome the public in an alienating atmosphere.
Once Again, whose title is borrowed from Nietzsche’s theory of the Eternal Return, powerfully transcribes the essence and spirit of the artist’s research, as well as the aesthetics and vocabulary that once again pushes her tension to the edge between the real and the dream.
Chiara Dynys designs and creates a gigantic moving “machine” that will inhabit the Stirling space made up of three rotating perspective rollers that unfold ten meters wide, simulating the course of sea waves and their crashing on the foreshore for a length of twelve meters. An intuition that draws inspiration from the “extraordinary” 17th Century scenic machines capable of generating awe and wonder in the spectator’s soul with the magic of illusion.
The experience of this space thus intends to involve the audience, surprising them physically and emotionally “on the foreshore,” on the shoreline, where fragments, words and phrases contextually land and meet
