Filippo Manzini. Lavoro sul campo

16.09.2025 – 20.09.2025

From Tuesday, September 16th to Saturday, September 20th, 2025, BUILDING TERZO PIANO presents Lavoro sul campo, an exhibition-event by Filippo Manzini featuring a selection of the artist’s works including new artworks and site-specific productions created for the exhibition.
On the occasion of the opening, on Tuesday, September 16th, 2025 from 7PM, the artist will operate in the spaces of BUILDING TERZO PIANO presenting to the public a new performance, an action that will produce a new site-specific installation.
Lavoro sul campo is accompanied by a critical text by Giorgio Verzotti, whose contribution offers an in-depth look at the poetics of Manzini’s artistic practice.

The artist’s interventions arise in relation to the exhibition space, and are designed specifically for their installation. For Manzini, art is an experience lived through different artistic practices, in particular performance, site-specific installations, and photographic works: the artist intends to give these moments of intimacy to the public, who is called to be a participant. The artworks present in the exhibition are united by the theme of tension, a pivotal aspect of Manzini’s research. The different forms of expression displayed combine to make the exhibition a unique entity, returning an overall picture of his research: the works on display, in fact, are not simply isolated elements, but contribute to defining an overall experience that takes into account the environment that hosts them.

Through minimal interventions I introduce subtle disturbances into the normal perception of the architecture that houses my practices. Often, my sculptures arise from a performative experience, later becoming photographs that count as remembered plastic events. Between the image and the object portrayed, exhibited in the exhibition, an equivalent of formal research is thus created. For me, the act involved in composing the work is a fundamental element” – states the artist about his practice.
