On Wednesday, October 8th, 2025, at 6.30PM, Triennale Milano and BUILDING present at Triennale Milano, an event dedicated to the artist photographer Ljubodrag Andric (Belgrade, 1965).
The talk represents an opportunity to explore Ljubodrag Andric’s artistic and visual research and is organized within the exhibition Ljubodrag Andric. Spaces, Thresholds, Lights, curated by Francesco Tedeschi, on view at BUILDING GALLERY until October 18th, 2025.
The event takes place in the presence of the artist Ljubodrag Andric, in dialogue with Francesco Tedeschi, art critic and Professor at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan; Andrea Pinotti, Professor in image theory at La Statale, Università degli Studi of Milan; Damiano Gullì, curator for Contemporary art and Public program at Triennale Milano and Markus Hartmann, publisher and co-founder of Hartmann Books.
The artist—represented in Italy by BUILDING and hosted by Triennale Milano with a solo exhibition in 2016 (Ljubodrag Andric: Works 2008–2016)—works in a space suspended between photography and painting, drawing inspiration from the atmosphere of historic architecture encountered during his journeys. His works can be described as geometric abstractions “painted” with light.
During the talk, the new publication Ljubodrag Andric. INDIA, published by Hartmann Books (2025), will be also presented. The book is the result of Andric’s journeys, particularly throughout the Indian subcontinent between 2019 and 2024. Conceived as a visual journey—a veritable labyrinth of images—the photographs in the volume transcend their direct reference to the depicted subjects to collectively construct, as a whole, an experience of place. Many of the works featured in INDIA are also an integral part of the exhibition project Ljubodrag Andric. Spaces, Traces, Light, developed in collaboration with the Fondazione Giorgio Cini in Venice. Structured in two distinct chapters, the exhibition weaves together the impressions gathered by the artist during his time in the East with new research dedicated to Italian architecture.
The dialogue, enriched by the critical and academic perspectives of the speakers, will allow for an in-depth exploration of Andric’s work, interwoven with the viewpoint of Triennale Milano, an institution long committed to architecture and its social and cultural resonances.
