On Wednesday, May 29th, 2024 at 6PM, the Museo del Novecento will host the presentation of the volume Giovanni Campus. Tempo in processo. Rapporti misure connessioni. Percorso di lavoro 1955-2022. Disegni-riflessioni.
The event will take place in the presence of the artist Giovanni Campus, who will dialogue with a series of experts that have been following, studying and writing about his work for several years: Marco Meneguzzo, art historian and curator; Sandro Parmiggiani, art critic and historian; Francesco Tedeschi, art critic and lecturer at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore; and Emma Zanella, MA*GA museum director.
This volume aims to explore the fundamental role that the drawing process has played in the artist’s work from the 1950s to the present. Giovanni Campus works with drawing according to a humanistic, Renaissance conception, for which in it his self-conscious reflection is manifested around the dialectic between rationality and perception, study and immediacy.
Drawing for Campus represents a practice of reflection through making, a process that is defined in relation to time. In these pages, the relationship always present in his work between the methodological study of art and the boundless realm of the mind is illustrated and confirmed to the highest degree.
On the occasion of the event, on Wednesday, May 29th, 2024, the volume will be available at Museo del Novecento, Milan.
The catalogue is available for sale at BUILDING, in selected bookstores, and on the gallery’s online bookshop.
